Eric + Rebecca | Navy, Peach, Coral Wedding + Refinery Reception | Champaign, IL
We had the pleasure of photographing Eric and Rebecca last fall for their engagement session, which you can see here, and after spending the evening with them on Eric's family farm it made us even more eager for their wedding day to arrive. Rebecca looked absolutely stunning in her wedding gown by Stella York. The unique openings on the back of her dress had us swooning. The navy suit Eric wore sure looked sharp. It was such a classic look and the coral and peach flowers against the navy bridesmaids dresses made the flowers pop!
Oh, and speaking of the suit, we loved hearing Eric talk about it while he was waiting for Rebecca for the first look. He said, "I've worn a lot of suits and tuxes for weddings, but none of them have felt as good as this one does today." Isn't that just the sweetest thing? What a unique way to articulate his love for Rebecca on his wedding day. Hearing that made me (Heather) want to hug him. I think I did. ha! Those little comments speak volumes for the love, respect, and excitement he has for Rebecca to be his wife. And we know Rebecca feels the same about him.
They chose to do a first look. We LOVE first looks. If there is one piece of advice we'd give couples is to consider doing a first look. The excitement of seeing each other for the first time is just as much present when seeing each other before the ceremony AND there is still excitement as the bride walks down the aisle. The added bonus of doing an intimate first look with only the bride and groom present... and us two lurking around (ha!) is we can capture the reactions of both the bride and groom in an area with beautiful light. We allow a few minutes for the couple to talk, admire, laugh, hug, kiss, etc without any interruption.
Wedding days are so incredibly busy that the first look is one of the only, if not the only, opportunity on their wedding day for them to have a quiet moment just the two of them. The split second unprompted moments we capture between them, such as Rebecca leaning her head on Eric's chest (which you will see below), are some of our favorites from the first look. It was unscripted. But that is a natural way for the two of them to connect and that's what makes it so special. Eric and Rebecca are so family focused and genuinely care about all their friendships that they wanted to make sure they spent all their time with those who traveled to celebrate their wedding day. Because of their desire to focus on others, which makes us like them even more, we think it's great that they chose to do a first look which allowed them a few minutes together... just the four of us. :-)
They were surrounded by family and friends near and far for their ceremony at Gibson City Bible Church and the celebration continued at the Refinery where their reception was held. There was wonderful food (L.A. Gourmet never disappoints), talking, dancing, talking, cookies and cupcakes, oh and more talking. Those of you who know Eric and Rebecca, understand why talking is listed more than once. ha!
It was our pleasure to be a part of your day Eric and Rebecca. Praying for a lifetime of happiness for the two of you!
